Influencer Kelley Heyer's lawsuit against Roblox Corporation has been "amicably resolved", per court papers filed in the US this week. The two sides have agreed to dismiss the case, which centred around, deep breath please, an in-game emote based on the choreographer's viral dance that is performed to Charli XCX's song Apple. The Apple dance, as it became known, was a huge TikTok trend in summer 2024 and has been adopted by Charli XCX herself: Heyer even performed the dance live at one of the star's concerts. It was impossible to avoid at the time, and was subsequently incorporated into a Charli XCX-themed "Brat" update for the Roblox game Dress to Impress.Heyer has previously told the BBC she enjoyed seeing others perform the dance but was "bummed out" when big brands used it without credit. Notably, Heyer reached an agreement with Fortnite in December 2024 for the game to add "the Bratty dance" emote, and at the time said "the whole Fortnite team was really wonderful and super easy to work with."It's been going on for a while, too, with the actor behind the Fresh Prince of Bel Air 'Carlton Dance' Alfonso Ribeiro suing Epic as far back as 2019, though he hit some copyright snags. Other examples of viral dance creators bringing suit against games include 2 Milly (the Milly Rock), Backpack Kid (the Floss) and Orange Shirt Kid (the Orange Justice).

Start the game off by doing a simple dance move. It may be the sprinkler or the shopping trolley or the cowboy lasso. You continue around the circle and people have to remember the order of the dance moves and then add their own at the end. If someone forgets a move or takes too long they lose the round and have to start the next round. This dance game is guaranteed to get some laughs. The dancing game/drinking game is funny and intense. Form a circle and dance to pass the parcel music while quickly passing around a box wine pillow. Who ever has the silver pillow (goon bag) when the music stops has to sip the wine until the music starts up again.Simple Dance Game. Put on some fun music and pick someone to copy their moves. They dance for about 20 seconds and then pass it on to a new person and everybody copies them. Best to try and come up with the silliest dance moves you can so that your friends have to copy you.

I've started teaching three classes. One is younger kids ages 6-10, one is boys 6-10, and one is older girls age 11-12. I'm looking for some dance-related games that can keep them all engaged but moving and preferably learning about dance too. All ideas are welcome!
We do the telephone game only with dance. Everyone faces away & one person does one step. Then the 2nd does 2. Taps the 3rd. They do 3 steps. Does that make sense? It can get funny with the little kids. I also do power circle. One person in the middle does what ever dance they want for about 16 counts & everyone in the circle copies them.Awesome! I've tried the telephone game with dance (I call it broken television haha), and that was pretty good. Sometimes for younger kids I find they don't like to stand and wait so long for their turn. I'll try and see if we can do power circle!Gamedev and art community for Playstations DREAMS software. ... What has dance done for you? Has it changed you in any way?All of the above are great! I also like to incorporate partner games, too. It helps open up some of the quieter students and gets them ready to dance.

Rhythm game or rhythm action is a genre of music-themed action video game that challenges a player's sense of rhythm. Games in the genre typically focus on dance or the simulated performance of musical instruments, and require players to press (or step on) buttons in a sequence dictated on the screen.Rhythm games often feature novel game controllers shaped like musical instruments such as guitars and drums to match notes while playing songs. Certain dance-based games require the player to physically dance on a mat, with pressure-sensitive pads acting as the input device. The company's music division, Bemani, released a series of music-based games over the next several years. The most successful of these was the 1998 dance mat game Dance Dance Revolution, which was the only Bemani title to achieve large-scale success outside Japan, and would see numerous imitations of the game from other publishers.Despite these setbacks, the rhythm game market continues to expand, introducing a number of dance-based games like Ubisoft's Just Dance and Harmonix's Dance Central that incorporate the use of motion controllers and camera-based controls like the Kinect. Existing games also continue to thrive on new business models, such as the reliance on downloadable content to provide songs to players.

Are there movement games we could play that might possibly be better, with a clearer task? And thanks for helping my mind open to see Freeze Dance can be played without elimination. ... Musical statues! I haven’t played that game in donkey’s years. Is this the same game as "musical statues"? Magic statues is a fave of my kiddos. They start frozen and they start moving once they are touched with a wand/by the magical person/whatever- whey “come alive to dance”. Then they all freeze, someone else has the magic and this can loop forever.I don't really think children need prizes to participate though. They seem less self conscious than adults about dancing in public generally speaking. ... I'm starting to think it's okay for me to include freeze, despite the eliminations, as long as I combine it with an everyone-wins game / activity.
